UBRT Residence

UBRT Residential Project,
The UBRT Residence project began when our firm was contacted by our partner, Cancu Studio, to design a residential complex for an extended family on a 24-rai plot of land. The client’s vision was to create a home where their children—who are now entering the workforce—could eventually build their own families and live together. At the same time, the house needed to accommodate guests who may occasionally visit.
To achieve this, the client requested that the architecture be divided into smaller building clusters. This approach would allow each family member to enjoy privacy while still fostering closeness and connection within the larger family community.
The design process started with close collaboration with a landscape designer to establish the best circulation and access strategy for the site. We then developed the master plan by carefully considering sun orientation, wind, and rainfall patterns, ensuring that each building could rely on natural ventilation and shading. This strategy minimizes the need for air conditioning while seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor spaces.
Architecturally, the project follows a Modern Tropical concept infused with a touch of Minimalism, emphasizing simplicity, tranquility, and elegance. The primary materials include travertine stone, which conveys both warmth and timeless character; glass, which opens wide panoramic views; steel, which provides both strength and lightness; and wood, which softens and enriches the atmosphere throughout.
The result is a residence of grand scale yet intimate warmth. It balances private spaces, allowing independence for each family unit, with communal areas, where family members naturally come together. More than just a home, it is conceived as a “small community within a family”, designed to nurture and celebrate enduring relationships.

“This residence is envisioned as a sanctuary for generations — balancing privacy for each family unit with shared spaces that bring everyone together. Surrounded by nature and designed with openness, it becomes more than a house; it is a community within a family.”
