YS RESIDENCE

YS Residence
This residence is located on a 3-rai estate in Yasothon, Thailand, and its design began with a unique request: the client had received guidance from a Feng Shui master regarding the arrangement of spaces and room functions. The architects were therefore tasked with harmonizing these traditional principles with modern architectural design, creating a home that embodies faith, beauty, and contemporary living.
The house is envisioned in a Modern Tropical style, carefully responding to the local climate. The orientation and layout are thoughtfully designed to follow the natural patterns of sunlight, wind, and rainfall, allowing for effective cross-ventilation and minimizing the reliance on air conditioning. This ensures not only comfortable living conditions but also an environmentally responsible approach to design.
Interior spaces are planned to be open and fluid, seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor areas. Wide terraces, garden corridors, and large openings allow the residents to experience nature closely, while still preserving a sense of privacy and tranquility essential for family life.
A defining highlight of the project is the integration of architecture and landscape design from the very beginning. The house and its gardens are not treated as separate entities, but rather as a single, unified composition. Mature trees, carefully orchestrated greenery, and natural light create a serene and harmonious atmosphere that enriches daily living.
Ultimately, this residence represents more than just a home. It stands as a symbol of balance between cultural belief, tradition, and modern design, reflecting a way of life that is both meaningful and timeless.

The interior design follows a Modern Tropical approach, blending simplicity, contemporary elegance, and a close connection to nature. The living and dining areas are defined by double-volume spaces with floor-to-ceiling glass panels, allowing natural light and garden views to flow seamlessly into the interiors, blurring the boundary between inside and outside.
Natural materials such as timber, stone, and exposed concrete are harmoniously combined with clean, modern lines. Timber introduces warmth and comfort, while stone and concrete bring a sense of strength and understated luxury.
Furniture selections emphasize minimal lines and neutral tones—earthy shades of beige, grey, and soft natural hues—to create a calm yet refined atmosphere. Subtle details, including concealed lighting, contemporary fixtures, and bespoke built-in shelving, enrich the overall ambience with sophistication.
The double-height living space not only conveys grandeur and elegance but also enhances openness and a deeper connection to the surrounding landscape, making the home feel both expansive and intimately connected to nature.
